Highlights: No migraine today! Two days in a row! Jack had recess outside and played with our neighbors outside without the sun triggering a migraine. He's been a happy kid today.

For Tuesday, April 27, 2021 Highlights: Jack went to school and did not go to the nurse. He said his head did not hurt when I picked him up after school. I gave him a hat and sunglasses to wear at recess, but he said he forgot them. In the evening, he struggled through homework and seemed upset and angry. He told me he had a moderate migraine (4 out of 10 pain).

April 26, 2021 Highlights: Jack went to school this morning and seemed to be doing well. I did not receive a call from the nurse to indicate that he asked for Ibuprofen at school. When I picked him up, he said he had a moderate/5 out of 10 pain scale migraine, but he wanted to avoid taking too much Ibuprofen. He said his head started hurting when they went outside for recess and P.E. After school, he wanted to relax on the couch and watch TV. I let him for a while and then homework was very dramatic. He was in a bad mood the rest of the evening and very upset. I would be too if my head hurt that bad. April 25, 2021 Highlights: Jack was OK throughout the day. In the afternoon, he went outside to play. The sun seems to have triggered a migraine. He came inside to rest and felt better later. He did not have to take pain medication

Highlights: Woke up fine and went to Scout Camp. Sudden severe migraine at 3:30 PM. Left camp early and took Ibuprofen at home. Chris also got him a meal from McDonald's on the way home. Improved to moderate migraine. I was hoping that we would have a migraine-free day and enjoy Scout Camp this weekend. Jack has taken Ibuprofen every day this week, so I really wanted a day off and to avoid a cycle. Jack had so much fun playing sports, exploring, and hiking with his and Eliot's dens. I made sure that he drank lots of water and ate throughout the day. We weren't sure if we were going to spend the night because it looked like rain, but Jack was so pumped and having a great time that I was about to set up the tent. He and I would brave the rain anyway even if Eliot went home. Jack went off to play frisbee with some friends and came back a few moments later. He curled up in a ball in his chair and said he had a really bad migraine and needed to leave right away. It was about 3...

Highlights: Slow to get up this morning. Woke up with a headache; said it was a moderate migraine. He ate oatmeal for breakfast and said he was still hungry; ate yogurt. Was in good spirits before school. Went to school on time. Went to the nurse for Ibuprofen at 1:20 PM. He said his headache went away completely with the Ibuprofen, but came back when the medicine wore off. Jack is generally a slow riser and said he was very tired this morning. I gave him an additional 15 minutes to sleep (until 6:45 AM) and he got up with minimal protesting. He said his head hurt, ate oatmeal and yogurt for breakfast, and then played for a while. He was talkative and in a good mood. I offered Ibuprofen, but he said that he takes it before lunch. He is establishing his own routine and I am happy that the Ibuprofen is helping. At the same time, I don’t think consistently taking Ibuprofen is a safe long-term patch to the problem. We will need to take some days off. Jack went ...

Highlights: Woke up with migraine and nausea. Soda for caffeine with breakfast. Went to school on time. Requested Ibuprofen from the nurse at 11:30 AM. He made it through the school day and said he felt almost completely normal after school. Jack was slow to get up this morning. He said he didn’t feel well with a headache and nausea. I gave him extra time and he had oatmeal and a protein bar for breakfast. He drank half of a can of Pepsi for the caffeine. I offered Ibuprofen, but he said no. He slowly came around and eventually played with Eliot before school. He made it to school on time. When Jack first woke up for the day, I was very concerned that he wasn’t going to make it to school. I’m always tempted to tell him not to worry about it and to go back to sleep, hoping that the extra rest will help. I’m glad that he got better throughout the morning. My plan is to continue to try to get him to school on time if at all possible; however, if he is slow to...

Highlights: Woke up without migraine. Migraine began before school; had ibuprofen at school at 11:20 AM. Migraine improved, but continued through the evening. Gave frap for caffeine; may have helped some. Missed soccer practice. Jack woke up in OK spirits at 6:30 AM. He was tired and took a little while to get out of bed, but it was an easier morning than others. He did not have a migraine when he woke up. He was in a good mood and told some jokes. He claimed that his brother was being too loud at breakfast. Before leaving for school, he said his head was starting to hurt. I offered Ibuprofen, but he didn’t want to take it. At 11:20 AM, the school nurse called to say he had a headache. She gave Ibuprofen. He was on the way to lunch. I am looking into MigreLief as a supplement. It may take three months to work. I should probably wait until I see the neurologist to begin this treatment to ask for the brand suggestion and dosing. ...

Highlights: Very bad headache when Jack woke up. Gave Tylenol in the morning; ineffective. Pediatrician dx atypical migraine and arrhythmia; waiting on call from referrals to neuro and cardiologist. Gave Ibuprofen at 12:30 PM. May have helped some. Began first dose of Cyproheptadine (5 mL) at night. A warm bath and darkness did not help. Jack has been complaining about headaches and nausea almost daily for at least a couple of months. We used Pataday eyedrops nightly and tried to be consistent with Zyrtec. They did not help. Tylenol also did not help. He wakes up with the migraines and complains of worsening pain when active. Some phonophobia and minimal photophobia. He cried when I was taking him to school, so we went to the doctor instead. He claimed 9 out of 10 pain. At the doctor, he was diagnosed with atypical migraines and arrhythmia of his heart. We were referred to a neurologist and cardiologist; waiting on a call back. I gave Ibuprofen around 12...
