Highlights: Jack's treatment plan will continue as have been doing. He has only had two waking migraines since school got out. His migraines are less frequent and severe. The neurologist said that if the migraines increase in frequency and intensity when school starts, we will try adjusting medication and also treat Jack from a mental health approach because anxiety from school is likely contributing to them.

This summer is continuing to go well for Jack. I think the magnesium is helping more than anything. Jack still gets migraines if we spend a couple of hours outside, so we have to be careful.

Jack's overall mood is improving with less migraines and less pain. He is not as angry, frustrated, or sad. It is hard to get him to do activities still, but we're making progress. At the beginning of June, he was ready to quit everything, including Cub Scouts. He wouldn't leave the house. Since then, Jack has gone fishing twice, to two museums, on a Cub Scout hike, and a Sea Scout cruise on a sail boat with Cub Scouts. It was very hard to convince him to go on the cruise because he was afraid he'd get a migraine, but I didn't want to leave him behind and him miss out on a unique experience. I know I've never been on a sailboat and maybe never will again. In the end, he was glad that he came and we saw probably 20 dolphins or more.

Jack has made some comments about not being able to do things due his migraines here and there. The Sea Scouts were talking about a five-day canoeing trip. Jack said he'd never be able to do something like that because of his head. However, he then said that maybe he could because medicine will get better by the time he is old enough. Soccer registration has opened for fall and I asked if he wanted to play. He enthusiastically said yes, but then the next day told me not to sign him up due to migraines. I told him that we have time to decide still, and we'll see how it goes.

I hope that we can keep Jack feeling well through the fall and into the school year. If not, the doctor said that anxiety from school is likely contributing to the migraines and we'll need to address that as well. It's a tough time in the field of mental health--it seems nearly impossible to get an appointment these days.

I am so thankful that we have found at least some relief for Jack. We'll keep doing what we're doing and pray that the supplements continue to improve his pain and quality of life.
